Understanding OCD & Anxiety
Do you feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or mental loops that won't quiet down, no matter how much insight you gain? Are you exhausted from constantly monitoring your thoughts, your body, or your environment? Maybe you are finding yourself suddenly questioning even the smallest of decisions.
Many people living with anxiety, compulsive behavior, intrusive thoughts, and/or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) describe feeling highly self-aware but emotionally trapped, as if their mind is always on high alert and they never feel quite certain that they can trust themselves.
How OCD Shows Up
OCD often shows up as intrusive thoughts, urges, images, or doubts that feel pressing and distressing, followed by mental or behavioral compulsions meant to reduce anxiety. This can include excessive Googling, repeatedly asking friends or family for reassurance, ruminating, or actions like checking and cleaning. While these patterns can feel convincing and overwhelming, they are also highly treatable.
How We Work Together
In therapy, we focus on understanding how anxiety and OCD operate, learning to respond differently to intrusive thoughts, and gradually reducing compulsive behaviors. Using a structured, step-by-step approach, we build an exposure hierarchy and start small—working toward more challenging situations over time in a way that feels manageable and meaningful. Rather than chasing certainty or reassurance, the work emphasizes increasing tolerance for uncertainty, strengthening self-trust, and reconnecting with values that matter to you.
Treatment is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
You're Not Alone
Many clients come in saying, "I know this doesn't make sense, but it feels real," or "I'm tired of thinking about everything all the time." Therapy offers a space to slow these cycles down and begin living with more freedom and flexibility.
You don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You just need a place to begin.
